Dead of winter is a game about controlling a group of colonists and helping them to survive in a post apocalyptic land in an eternal winter climate.

Primary Research

The game took at least an hour to setup on the first play test and so unfortunately, with the time-frame given, we had no time to actually play the game and so my primary research is solely based upon the setup and aesthetics of the game. At first, all of the separate cards and playing pieces do appear a bit daunting and could put you off especially as it appears to take a long time to setup. The games visuals appear to be designed in a dark theme which fits with the post-apocalyptic time-frame.

The game has an 84% 5 star rating on Amazon with overall reviews being very positive, one reviewer wrote "A truly excellent game as long as you have a group of friends willing to wade through some of the nuanced rules." which suggests that the game is best played with a group of friends who are interested at trying a handful of extreme rules.
