Production Diary #3 - Background design

Today I worked on designing the park level for the game. I spent a lot of time thinking about how I could improve my skills in creating a more realistic background. I played around with the ground texture under the swings using textures and images to create an artistic design.


I struggled at first to find the best way of showing the swings as it was hard to show metal chains and seats. I eventually came to the conclusion of drawing a filled line and then rubbing out sections to make it look like chains.


I have learnt that by adding images and masking them onto shapes can create some really interesting looking textures. I will be able to use this in my projects to create better imagery for games.
