Today I have taken the time to completely recreate the Construct project, not only because it was unorganised and needed a complete re-organisation, but also because we encountered a bug which stopped us from previewing the game.
As highlighted in the video, I still need to fix an issue when clicking the phone that will also activate the X button to close it at the same time.
I also spent time thinking about how I could improve my event sheet and layouts to make them more smooth and less buggy. I spent most of my time looking at the Menu and the Bedroom level which are the first 2 scenes in the game.
There is still some bugs such as fading not always working and text sometimes flickering but overall I think the overall presentation of the game has improved and is much less rough.
I also spent time working on a better way of teaching the player how to play the game and used the first level as form of "tutorial" which teaches the player some of the key mechanics in the game. I used Constructs animation frames feature to combine most of my assets so that the project as a whole is less cluttered and more organised. This helped me with fixing the clunkyness of the game also.
I think I have learnt that players need to be eased into a game more gradually in order for them to grasp the mechanics quicker and appreciate the game for what it is a lot more. I will use this conclusion as a way of improving future projects to ensure the player experience is positive.
