Genre: Role-Playing

Role-Playing games or RPG's originated with Dungeons and Dragons, a story-telling style where players imitate a fantasy character. One of the first video games of this genre was the original Elder Scrolls. This became a long running video game series. (Wikipedia, 2018)

Current titles include Stardew Valley, Final Fantasy, Fallout and The Witcher. The games all contain an in-depth story line and allows for the player to take control of the main character and play their life from a different perspective.

How will this research help me to create my final product?

By having knowledge of lots of different genres allows me to more easily come up with an idea for my final product as I won't be restricted to a certain few genres. Although this research may not directly affect my final product, it will give me options when it comes to the idea.
